Terms of service

Last updated 2026-09-27. By creating an account or an API key you agree to these terms with Jun Zhang, a sole proprietor trading as ImageStep, based in California, United States.

1. The service

ImageStep provides an API, SDKs, a CLI, an MCP server and an n8n node for image operations, plus this console. Features and prices are described on the pricing page and may change with notice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account. If you are using ImageStep for an organisation, you confirm you may agree to these terms on its behalf.

ImageStep is not offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. You may not create an account or use the service from there, or on behalf of an organisation established there, and a sign-in from there is refused.

3. Accounts and keys

You are responsible for the API keys you create and for everything done with them, including by anyone you share them with. Keep them secret; rotate a leaked key immediately from the console. We will never ask you for a key.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the service:

  • for unlawful content, or for images of people you have no right to process;
  • to generate sexual content involving minors, or content whose purpose is to harass or defraud a real person;
  • to circumvent rate limits, quotas, plan limits or the synchronous-path admission rules, including by using several accounts;
  • as bulk storage unrelated to image operations — assets are the inputs and outputs of work you run here;
  • in any way that harms the service or other customers.

A single upload is limited to 100 MB, and plan quotas are per account. “Unlimited” deterministic operations on a paid plan — jobs, the synchronous lane and template rendering alike — are for the image work your automations run; sustained load far beyond that, or load that crowds other customers off shared capacity, falls under the last line above, and we will contact you before limiting it. AI model providers' own policies apply to AI operations, in addition to these terms. We may suspend an account that breaches this clause, and will say which part it breached.

5. Plans, credits and refunds

Subscriptions renew monthly or yearly until cancelled, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. AI operations consume credits at the per-op prices shown before you run them, and so do deterministic operations past a plan’s monthly allowance, at the price the pricing page shows; a dry run prices an operation exactly, before a credit is spent.

Monthly credit is for that month and does not roll over. Credit you buy — and the one-time welcome credit — never expires. A plan’s monthly credit is granted for each billing period and is spent before any credit you have bought, so an unused part of it ends with that period rather than accumulating.

Unused purchased credit is refundable within 14 days of purchase; consumed credit is not. If we terminate your account for any reason other than a breach of these terms, we refund unused prepaid credit and the unused part of the current subscription period.

None of this limits rights you have under consumer law where you live — including any statutory right to cancel a purchase — and where those rights conflict with this clause, they win.

6. Your content

You keep all rights to the images you upload and the outputs you generate. You grant us the licence needed to store, process and deliver them as the service requires, for your plan's retention period or until you delete them, and for no other purpose — we do not train models on your images and we do not license them to anyone.

Outputs of AI operations are produced by third-party models. We make no claim about whether a given output is copyrightable, and you are responsible for checking that what you generate is lawful to use where you use it.

7. Privacy and data processing

What we collect, who processes it and how long we keep it is the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. Third-party code we redistribute is credited on /licenses.

The images and other content you send can contain personal data of other people. For that data you decide why and how it is processed and we process it only on your behalf, on the terms of the data processing addendum, which also forms part of these terms.

8. Availability and liability

The service is provided as is. We aim for high availability and give no uptime guarantee or SLA on self-serve plans; an operation can fail, and the API's error contract tells you whether retrying is worthwhile.

To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot lose — assets here are deleted when their retention period ends, by design.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Privacy & data. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Assets are deleted when an account is deleted or its retention period ends; keep your own copies first.

10. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change that materially affects an active subscription is announced by email to the address on your account before it takes effect; continuing to use the service afterwards is how you accept it, and cancelling is how you do not.
